Electric Fireplace Logs

With electric fireplace logs you can avoid the hassle and mess of a real fire while still enjoying your fireplace.  Most electric fireplace log sets are constructed of real wood and have stunning, realistic audio and visual effects,  like glowing coals and fading embers. Thanks to modern technology it is hard to tell the difference between a real fire and an electric fireplace logs depending on what type of brand you choose to purchase.

Another convienant quality about electric logs is that you can use them to easily convert your wood fireplace into electric. Also known as an electric fireplace insert, simply set the logs in the opening of your traditional style fireplace and plug the cord into a (120V) common household electrical outlet.  The log sets usually come in different sizes, with 36”  to 42” being the most popular sizes . Also electric logs can function as heaters (called an electric fireplace insert) and warm a room efficiently and quickly depending on what size heater core and fan comes with the insert. Typically electric fireplace log sets will cost anywhere around $100 - $500 dollars depending on the type of features available.

The maintenance costs for electric logs are slim to none. Every six months to a year you may have to replace the bulb inside the log.  Depending on the make and model, usually the bulbs are a common chandelier style bulb and other models have a red “flame” bulb. The bulbs are usually inexpensive and easy to replace.

Most log sets come with a remote allowing easy and convenient control over your electric fireplace. For example, depending on what type of features comes with each model, with a press of a button you can turn your electric fireplace on or off. You can also control the intensity of the electric fireplace whether you want a burning red hot fire or just glowing embers.  The intensity control can tie in with the heater element and fan so you will not just see the effects, but feel the heat as well.  Make sure if your main goal is to provide heating for a room in your home, that you purchase a unit that has a strong enough fan and heater element to heat the right size room.
